What is Quinn’s Day? Every year we celebrate the passionate, bold, and independents who embody the Quinn’s spirit. This tradition honors GWR owner’s grandfather Patrick Quinn who began the family tradition of whiskey making. Although, it was his passion, that didn’t mean it was always legal. Patrick Quinn, was arrested for making Poteen on December 23rd, 1953. The label from Patrick’s arrest is proudly displayed on the Drumlish bottle.
In September 2013, after a handshake and a few pints with a mate, Ollie established Great Wagon Road Distilling Company in Charlotte, NC. On December 23, 2015, Ollie procured his NC liquor license and now celebrates December 23rd as “Quinn’s Day.”
Are you #BoldLikeQuinn? We know a handful of Charlotteans who attended our annual Quinn’s Day celebration who are! If you couldn’t make it to this year’s Quinn’s Day celebration, here’s what you missed.
We released a very special Single Barrel Quinn’s Carolina Whiskey containing only 110 bottles. Which means It didn’t take long before we ran out but for those who were fortunate enough to score one of these rare bottles, there was an additional treat! In true Quinn’s Day tradition, we brought out the copper wax and the proud new owners of these single barrel Quinn’s got to wax dip their own bottles and stamp them with the GWR logo.
Our Quinn’s Day Single Barrel Release was barrel number 41.17, from the seventh batch of Quinn’s made in 2017. What makes this barrel so special? It’s the first single barrel Quinn’s release from a fresh, first use 25 gallon barrel, and a seasoned Quinn’s drinker may find a depth of flavor in this particular batch providing a tasting profile more akin to two year old straight Quinn’s Carolina Whiskey.
